(I stole this from my Samsung SyncMaster 225BW 22in LCD Monitor Review) If you’re not sure that a 22″ widescreen monitor is what you’re looking for, take a look at the picture below. I used this picture when deciding which monitor to buy for myself. After taking a look at it, I decided that I wanted either a 19″ or a 24″ widescreen. Since I wanted to watch widescreen movies, the 19″ was out, and the 24″ was out of my budget. That’s why I chose the 22″. It was the best of both worlds. It’s not quite as cheap as the 19″, but it’s much, much cheaper than a 24″. Now that I’ve made the decision to get a 22″ widescreen, I’m very happy that I did. Having a widescreen monitor just gives you so much extra space to work with. If you don’t watch any widescreen movies on your computer, I might suggest that you should get a 19″ because of the price, but really, I love having all this extra horizontal space. It makes photoshopping just that much easier, and since I use my monitor to watch movies, it’s really nice not having to see those big black bars all the time on widescreen movies.

I feel that twenty-two inches is pretty much the perfect size for a computer monitor. It’s big enough for graphics works and for programming (long lines of coding), and it simply gives a whole lot of room to work with, especially with its spacious native resolution of 1680 x 1050. There is more than enough monitor space for everything I need to do. Since I’ve well-established the fact that I like the size and how the monitor looks, let’s go ahead and see how it functions.

This monitor isn’t as adjustable as some of them out there, but it does offer a good amount of back and forth tilt. There is no height adjustment on the monitor, but that hasn’t proved to be a big problem, ’cause the screen sits up pretty high, but not too high. There is, of course, no pivoting adjustment, either.

The monitor on-screen display options menu is fairly easy to navigate, but is a little tricky without being able to see the buttons (because they’re on the back), which there are 6 of.

There aren’t any automatic color-optimization buttons for this monitor, which doesn’t bother me too much, ’cause I think I’m seeing colors how they’re meant to be seen. Something very cool that this monitor DOES have is an Auto-Config option. This automagically makes all the text crisp and get the viewable screen area to fit the monitor screen perfectly. I love not having to mess with resizing the screen.

Now for the inputs. The LCM-22W2 has all the following inputs:

-Stereo Minijack
-S-Video
-Component (Red, Green, Blue)
-Composite (Yellow Video Cable)
-RCA (Right/Left Audio Cables)

-DVI
-D-Sub (your standard monitor input).

This monitor pretty much has it all, except for a vertical adjustment system and pivoting-action, but what about the picture quality? Let’s see how the monitor actually looks when you’re using it.
